Made for Kyoto-based incense maker Kosaido, these are porcelain ceramic holders.

These are in the style of the Heian-era amusement of 'kai-awase', (matching shells).

The outer design features 'chōjū-giga' style imagery, some times described as the first manga.

Size:  8cm x 6.5cm, 4cm Height.

Care: Can be washed with warm water to remove incense ash.
